Notes on the September 24, 2009 meeting of Presbytery.

Prince Edward Island Presbytery met on the evening of September 29, 2000, at Camp Abegweit.
Some highlights follow:

1.    The meeting opened with a worship service led by Bob Lockhart, Camp Abegweit Board members,  and camp leaders.

2.   
A report on the 40th General Council was presented by Kevin Dingwell, Pauline Walker, Jim Blanchard, Beth Johnston, and Veronica MacIntyre.  There was a positive atmosphere at this General Council.

3.   
Two remits, “Election of Lay Representatives to Presbytery” and “Appointed, Chosen, Elected, Selected”, were discussed.  Motions were passed to agree with the remits.

4.   
A motion was passed granting permission to change the name of the Murray Harbour Murray River Pastoral Charge to Memorial Pastoral Charge.

5.   
The Church in Action Committee spoke about Bill C-300, An Act Respecting Corporate Accountability for the Activities of Mining, Oil or Gas Corporations in Developing Countries.  A motion was passed requesting Presbytery to send letters in support of this act.  Pastoral Charges will also be asked to write letters in support of Bill C-300.  Also, a KyotoPlus Action Now petition on climate change was circulated.

6.   
The four congregations on the Kings United Pastoral Charge will amalgamate into one congregation effective October 1, 2009.

7.   
The Nominations Committee is looking for members.

8.   
A motion was passed that the practice of Presbytery will be to have lunch provided prior to the Presbytery meeting.

9.    The Treasurer reported that eight pastoral charges have yet to submit their 2009 allocations in full.

10.    The next Presbytery meeting will be held in Bedeque United Church on November 26, 2009.
