1.
The
meeting opened with worship led by Rev. Karen MacLeod-Wilkie.
2. Christian Life and
Growth Committee: Shirley Affleck reported that there are applications
for the Youth Forum at General Council in Kelowna, B.C. in August,
2009. The deadline for applications is January 22, 2009.
3. Finance and Property
Committee: A motion was passed giving consent to Murray Harbour Murray
River Pastoral Charge to proceed with Phase Two of their church
development. Another motion was passed approving a resolution for
Camp Abegweit to arrange for $175,000 in bridge financing.
4.
Faith in
Action Committee: Ernie Stavert reviewed the Presbytery Agriculture
Awareness Event that had been held earlier in the month. A motion
was passed accepting recommendations on this issue.
Recommendations include developing worship resources, a letter writing
campaign, and hosting an Atlantic meal.
5. Stewardship
Committee: Pam Reidpath reminded the court that all pastoral charges
will have received their Mission and Service forms. She also
reminded us that M & S donations need to be submitted as soon as
possible after the end of the year.
6. Carolyn Francis gave
an update on Camp Abegweit. The camp has received some government
money for erosion control, Ducks Unlimited have created three ponds,
and the old lodge is being demolished. She invited all churches
to make banners for the dining hall. She encouraged all churches,
U.C.W.’s, and other groups to donate to the operating fund so that the
camp can continue to offer low rates to campers. Camp Abegweit
now has an endowment fund. The camp is now looking for staff for
the 2009 season.
7. The nominations for
Chair-elect were left until the February meeting.
8. The 2009 Presbytery
budget of $118,785.00 was passed.
9. The next
meeting will be on February 26, 2009 in Central Queens United Church.
