Notes on the June 9, 2011 meeting of Presbytery.

Prince Edward Island Presbytery met on the evening of June 9, 2011, at Park Royal United Church, Charlottetown.
Some highlights follow:

1.    Delegates enjoyed a tasty cold plate supper before the business meeting.

2.   
A motion was passed granting consent for the New London church property be listed for sale.

3.   
Presbytery granted approval for Wellington United Church to apply for a grant, from the Capital Assistance Program, to reshingle their church roof.

4.    Presbytery approved the call of the Rev. Gayle MacDonald of Chignecto Presbytery to full-time ministry at Spring Park United Church beginning on July 1, 2011.

5.   
A vacancy has been declared at St. Andrew’s United Church, Vernon Bridge.

6.   
The following re-appointments were approved:  Nathan Zwicker (Spring Park), Claudia Kitson (Cavendish-Breadalbane), Sheila Mallory (St. David’s Georgetown), Barbara Cairns (Park Royal), Kevin Dingwell (Vernon Bridge, Mt. Stewart-Morell-St. Peter’s Bay), Gary Clark (Mt. Stewart-Morell-St. Peter’s Bay), and Norman MacDougall (Mt. Stewart-Morell-St. Peter’s Bay).

7.    A motion was passed amalgamating the Long River, New London, and Margate congregations.  Thus, the Margate Pastoral Charge becomes, with Princetown, a two-point pastoral charge.

8.
    The meeting concluded with a service of worship and celebration.  Retiring Presbytery delegates were acknowledged and new delegates were welcomed.  The Licensed Lay Worship Leaders were recognized and presented with their licenses.  Everett Johnston was installed as the new chairperson of Presbytery.  Everett was presented with a stole, Bible, and gavel.

9.    The next Presbytery meeting will be held at Camp Abegweit on September 22, 2011.
