Prince Edward Island Presbytery met on the evening of April 28, 2011, at St. Andrew's United Church, Vernon Bridge.
Some highlights follow:

1.    The meeting opened with a worship with the theme “Christ is alive!”.  In the absence of the Chair, former chairperson Don MacPherson chaired the meeting.

2.
A motion was passed granting O’Leary United permission to seek a loan from the Church Extension Board for two projects: a new organ and repaving the church parking area.

3.
A motion was passed to grant Maritime Conference $700 for the production of the play Tompkinsville at the Annual Meeting of Conference and elsewhere.

4.    A motion was passed to increase the travel rate for committee work and Presbytery meetings to 30 cents per kilometre.  Another motion was passed to make the increase retroactive to January 1, 2011.

5.
The Nominating Committee reported that committee members are still needed.  However, all committee chairs have been selected.

6.
A motion was passed that, effective with the rise of Conference, the Finance and Property Committee will become the Finance, Property, and Mission Support Committee.

7.    Nigel Weaver, Christian Life and Growth Committee, announced the first county conversation day was held in Montague for Kings County.  Queens and Prince county events are planned.  The committee is continuing to converse with Camp Abegweit.  There are 19 applicants to Youth Forum and five to Intermediates at Conference from P.E.I. Presbytery.  Also, there are two people going to Rendezvous 2011.

8.
Bill Hayward, chair of the committee, presented the final report of the Spring Park United Transition Committee.  The committee studied the life and mission of the congregation, and what changes would be necessary.  The committee started its work in 2008 and is now drawing to a close as Spring Park United prepares to call a minister and a congregational designated minister.

9.    Keith Gale, chair of the Archives Committee, requested that when pastoral charges are asked to bring their minutes to a meeting to be audited, that they have their minutes there  no later than 6:00 p.m.

10.    Motions were passed approving a change in pastoral relations for the following (current pastoral charge, effective date): Laurie MacCuish (Vernon Bridge, January 17, 2011), Sue Paterson (Alberton-Elmsdale, July 31, 2011), and Jack Spencer (Kensington, June 30, 2012).

11.    Jim and Myrna Wicks spoke about the United Nations declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples.  Canada has signed on to this declaration, passed by the United Nations in 2007, in November 2010.  The Church in Action Committee wants to make sure Canada implements the declaration.

12.    The next Presbytery meeting will be held in Park Royal United Church on June 9, 2011.  The installation of the new Chair of Presbytery will take place at this meeting.
