Notes on the April 22, 2010 meeting of Presbytery.

Prince Edward Island Presbytery met on the evening of April 22, 2010, at Trinity United Church, Summerside.
Some highlights follow:

1.    The meeting opened with a worship time of music and prayer.

2.   
A vacancy has been declared for the Montague Pastoral Charge.  The Rev. Tony Ware has been appointed as retired supply for the pastoral charge until August 30, 2010.

3.   
For the period July 1, 2010 until July 30, 2011, Barb Cairns has been appointed as student supply to Park Royal United and Bill MacLeod has been appointed as interim minister to Spring Park United.

4.    Sheila Gallant presented the Nominating Committee report.  There are still some positions available.

5.   
Bob Lockhart, Jennifer Carver, Carolyn Francis, and Jean Ward presented the Camp Abegweit report.  The camp has an active volunteer board and receives support from various sources, including individual churches.  The camp is accredited.  Some work in progress includes creating trails, building an outdoor chapel, and making a model cabin.  In 2011, Camp Abegweit will host a national convention.

    There will be eight camps this summer.  There will be a Family Fun Day on August 29 that will include a pig roast.
   
    The by-laws of the camp had to be updated.  A motion was passed approving the act of incorporation and by-laws of Camp Abegweit.


6.   
On behalf of Presbytery, Arthur Davies thanked Carolyn Francis for her eight years as Chair of the Camp Abegweit Board.

7.   
Arthur Davies and Andrew Richardson gave a presentation on “Stephen Ministry”, a lay caring ministry.  Trinity United, Summerside, is learning to use this system.

8.
    Sheila Gallant presented the Treasurer’s report.  As of April 12, total expenses are $44,574.95.

9.    The next Presbytery meeting will be held in York United Church on June 10, 2010.
